About the solution

Impact Goal: Strengthen SME growth and SDG impact by mobilising international and domestic investment in Ghana

Description: Ground Up Project (GRUP) is working in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the SDG Advisory Office of the Presidency of Ghana, and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator to support the design of the Ghana SDG-SME Fund of Funds (FoF). The initiative is designed to catalyse the flow of international private investment capital into Ghanaian fund managers focusing on SMEs. GRUP's role is primarily to support the RFP process to select a Ghanaian Fund Manager and provide knowledge and intermediation services. The aim is to create a commercially focused investment vehicle that aggregates market opportunities to a scale attractive to international institutional investors, thereby facilitating SDG-focused investment in Ghana.

The goal is to establish a Ghanaian structure managed by Ghanaian entities with domestic funding, emphasising national ownership and commitment. The initiative seeks to make a significant impact by aggregating commercial investment opportunities, reducing transaction costs for investors, and providing SMEs with the means to grow and scale their businesses, all while focusing on priority SDGs.
