Description: The Inclusive InsurTech Investment Fund is Africa’s first dedicated venture capital fund for InsurTech startups addressing the insurance gap for underserved households and SMEs. It blends catalytic capital from FSDA with private investments, mainly from African re/insurers. Key features include a first-loss tranche to de-risk investments and a currency hedging strategy to tackle local currency risks. The phased approach, from a warehousing facility to a full fund, supports financial viability and investor confidence, with projected net IRRs of 12-16%. The Fund aims to establish InsurTech as a viable asset class in Africa while driving strong social impact aligned with SDGs.
