The SDG Impact Finance Initiative (SIFI) has launched its Impact Measurement and Monitoring (IMM) system, a core piece of infrastructure designed to strengthen how impact and performance data are collected, managed, and used across its portfolio.
As philanthropic and public capital are increasingly deployed to unlock private investment, the need for consistent, credible, and comparable impact data becomes critical. Fragmented reporting, manual processes, and inconsistent indicators can limit transparency, learning, and effective decision-making at scale.
IMM addresses these challenges by providing a central, structured system that brings together impact data, performance metrics, and milestone tracking across SIFI-supported initiatives. The system replaces ad-hoc reporting tools with standardised workflows and a single source of truth, improving oversight while reducing administrative burden for portfolio companies and partners. Importantly, IMM does not introduce a new impact methodology. Instead, it operationalises recognised standards, including IRIS+, ensuring alignment with established frameworks while supporting funder-aligned reporting at project, portfolio, and donor level.
Beyond reporting, IMM is designed to strengthen learning and capital allocation over time. By enabling portfolio-level analysis across regions, sectors, and SDGs, the system supports clearer insights into what scales, what stalls, and where catalytic capital is most effective. These insights feed directly into the design of future Calls for Proposals and SIFI’s broader ecosystem strategy.
IMM is a foundational element of SIFI’s next phase of growth, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, data discipline, and evidence-based impact at scale.
