The SDG Impact Finance Initiative is excited to introduce five new, highly innovative projects to our portfolio, selected from a very competitive pool of applications. In this third funding cycle, USD 1.29 million has been allocated to support innovations addressing critical global challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and / or SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

These selected innovators are pioneering solutions in reforestation, healthcare, sustainable agriculture, and humanitarian support. Their projects represent ambitious, scalable approaches to create long-term impact across various sectors.

The solutions receiving support are:

  • Treevive – Amazon Forest Landscape Restoration in Peru: Developing scalable reforestation and carbon credit models to support climate resilience in the Peruvian Amazon, emphasizing sustainable land management and carbon sequestration.
  • Tree Global SA – Africa Reforestation Green Bond: Creating an innovative green bond structure to finance large-scale reforestation projects across Africa, focusing on building climate resilience and mobilizing private capital for nature-based solutions.
  • Access Afya – Scaling Curafa: Expanding healthcare access in Kenya through a franchise model designed to bring affordable, quality healthcare to underserved communities, addressing both primary care needs and local employment.
  • iGravity and Helvetas – Green Bond for Sustainable Rice: Designing a green bond structure to finance sustainable rice production in Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting food security and economic stability for smallholder farmers while promoting climate-smart agriculture.
  • KOIS and Interpeace’s Finance for Peace initiative– Refugee HDP Outcomes Fund: Developing a pioneering outcomes-based financing model to address humanitarian, development, and peace (HDP) needs in fragile regions, with a focus on fostering stability and resilience among refugee populations.

Congratulations to these five innovators! The SDG Impact Finance Initiative looks forward to collaborating with our partners to support the impactful work ahead.

We also extend our gratitude to Convergence for their expertise and to the Investment Committee members—Amol Mehra, Alex Jarman, Bart Van Eyk, Lauren Ferstandig, and Sebastien Boye—for their invaluable input and dedication to advancing SDG-focused solutions.
