Capital Meets Nature: A High-Level Roundtable on Blended Finance and Nature-Based Solutions

On May 8th, 2025, the SDG Impact Finance Initiative (SIFI) co-hosted a high-level roundtable in Singapore with Mirova, moderated by the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). Held at the Natixis–Mirova office, the event brought together leaders from government, philanthropy, and the private sector to explore how blended finance can accelerate institutional investment in nature-based solutions (NbS). The discussion addressed key barriers to scale—such as risk perception, limited pipelines, and the need for patient capital—and showcased how SIFI’s three-window approach supports innovation, scaling, and ecosystem-building. Mirova shared its investment strategy focused on sustainable land use, highlighting how vertical and horizontal integration across the value chain can drive both financial and ecological outcomes. The roundtable affirmed that while nature is investable, it requires long-term horizons and tailored financial structures. Participants expressed strong interest in ongoing collaboration, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue to help move NbS into the mainstream of impact investing.
